Pancit Batil Patong Munoz Rapsatodits

The hunt for the perfect pancit batil patong continues. After being disappointed with Pasig’s Pancit Center and Bruno’s Pancit Batil Patung Kamuning, we were still on the look out for a restaurant that can really do justice to this Tuguegarao noodle favorite. This time, our feet led us to Muñoz in Quezon City to find if Rapsatodits can finally satiate our mad cravings for that elusive dish.

I first saw Rapsatodits while speeding along a jeepney bound for Muñoz. Unable to stop, I simply noted its location and Googled it on my way back home. But as we finally got to visit the place, the carinderia seemed to have vanished into thin air. Our fears were allayed though when we were told that they’ve simply moved to a much more affordable location, albeit, a harder one to find.

GARAGE DINING AREA

Rapsatodits new location is simply a few minutes walk from its old place. Although it’s not along Muñoz’s main road anymore, it’s still quite easy to find as long as you ask for directions.

This pancit batil patong carinderia is now tucked inside a garage along Sto. Niño street in Quezon City. They have a very simple set up, a few Orocan plastic chairs and tables here and there, a tray of cooked dishes in front, an electric fan and that’s it. Since it’s in the garage, you get to eat near a washing machine and an old unused door, among other things.

And oh yeah, they have Wi-Fi!

WE’RE NOT HERE FOR THE AMBIENCE

This might turn some people off, but we weren’t here for the ambience. We were here for one thing, and one thing only, to have a plate of Tuguegarao’s pancit batil patong. A noodle dish we’ve been craving for since tasting it at Tuguegarao City.

PANCIT BATIL PATONG CONDIMENTS

Like its original counterpart in Tuguegarao, Rapsatodits serves their pancit batil patong in three sizes; Regular (₱60.00), Special (₱70.00) and Super (₱80.00). One can opt for an additional serving of veggies (₱15.00) or chorizo (₱20.00), if you so desire.

Chorizo? Yes, chorizo! While the pancit batil patong we ate on in Tuguegarao, Ed’s Panciteria, uses hotdogs, this eatery uses chorizo for toppings.

HUGE SERVING!

We ordered two Specials and the serving size were ginormous! At first glance, everything looked good—the poached egg is done right, the carabeef servings is plentiful, and the onion and egg soup side dish are present. One thing I noticed lacking is the chicharon or carajay toppings.

But I quickly forgot about that on first bite.

Rapsatodits’ pancit batil patong is very good! The carabeef isn’t overpowering, the bean sprouts put a fresh crunch to every bite, and the chorizo adds a sweet note that works well with the overall taste. Plus their miki or noodle is the real deal, it comes all the way from Tuguegarao City.

I think we just might have found a winner here. As of the moment, until I’ve tried all the possible pancit batil patong places in Metro Manila, Rapsatodits holds the title for the best pancit batil patong dish for me. Amen? Amen!
