CAPIZ | Quick Snack and Strange Skies at Roxas City’s San Antonio Resort
Thursday, December 19, 2013The day started early at the Roxas City Cathedral, shooting the church with the sun rising in the background. Capiz’s grand festival, the Sinadya sa Halaran soon followed with drumbeats and dancing. Then a breather at Bitoy’s Balay Barbekyuhan near Baybay Beach. And finally a visit at the record-breaking bell of Panay Church.
The group needed another breather. And thankfully there’s San Antonio Resort to the rescue.
Roxas City’s San Antonio Resort is one of the premiere resorts in the city. Located a few minutes from the town center, the seven-hectare relaxation paradise houses a total of fifty rooms and suites, a swimming pool, a boating lagoon, bowling lanes and four restaurants and bars.
The lagoon looked really serene in the afternoon light but I was drawn more to the infinity-like pool. I would’ve taken a dip too if we were not pressed for time.
Sitting right beside the pool, a table was arranged for us with platefuls of seafood pasta and cold drinks. To be honest, I thought the dish wouldn’t sit well with my taste. I mean, mussels and tomato sauce?
But it was love at first bite. The combination of the fettuccine pasta, the cheese, the thick sauce and the succulent seafood was just spot on. This is one of the best pastas I’ve ever tried.
We roamed around the resort a bit after our filling snack and saw the most unusual skyscape. The sun, hiding behind thick clouds was throwing warm crepuscular rays left and right. It was great in itself, but what’s really strange was the glow emanating from it; greens, yellows, reds and magentas. It was a rainbow of sorts, but it’s not.
I saw a sunset with mild green tones at Ilocos Norte’s Kapurpurawan Rock Formation before, but I have absolutely never seen anything like this one.
After a while, the glow faded.
And we went back to the table for a second helping of San Antonio Resort’s seafood pasta.
