Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras

Still wet from an afternoon of frolicking on a white sandy beach, we hurriedly packed our stuff, walked through the forest, and made our way back to our room. The sun was about to set and we didn’t want to miss it. From our balcony, perched high up—overlooking the Strait of Iloilo—we quickly prepared cups of coffee, brought out some chips for snacks, and savored the colors of the day’s end. It’s the perfect way to wrap up our day at Nature’s Eye Beach Resort.

ABOUT NATURE’S EYE BEACH RESORT

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Pathway
NATURE’S EYE BEACH RESORT’S STAIRWAY PATH

Nature’s Eye Beach Resort is a boutique resort located at the southern end of Guimaras Island. It takes pride in its seamless integration with nature—featuring just five cottages thoughtfully spaced across its hilly terrain. Shaded by towering trees and surrounded by lush greenery, each one is perched on a promontory with a stunning view of the sea.

HOW TO GET TO NATURE’S EYE BEACH RESORT

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Trail
THE TEN-MINUTE TRAIL LEADING TO THE RESORT

Situated in Barangay Tando at the town of Nueva Valencia, the resort is about an hour away by car from the Jordan Wharf where most travelers coming in to Guimaras usually dock. It is remotely located; motorized vehicles usually drop visitors about ten minutes away from its gate—that ten-minute walk runs through a trail across a wooded forest.

What we did—and in my opinion, the best way to get to Nature’s Eye Beach Resort—is do the Guimaras Land Tour upon arriving on the island. We then asked our guide to drop us off at the resort after the tour. It is located near Guisi Beach and the famed Guisi Lighthouse where the tour usually ends, so you get to visit the province’s tourist spots, and in the end, save on transportation cost going to the resort.

If you’re pressed for time during your arrival, you can do this in reverse, doing the Guimaras Land Tour after checking out.

COTTAGE & ROOM TYPES?

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Pathway
NATURE’S EYE SHELL COTTAGE

With only five cottages, be sure to get the room well-suited for your taste and preferences. Note that the Cliff and the Ocean Cottages are air-conditioned, while the Shell and Sunset Cottages are fan rooms.

All the rooms are good for two persons, and extra heads are charged at ₱500.00 each. Five year-old toddlers are free of charge, kids age six to twelve are half the price, and those thirteen above are considered adults.

A tip for those planning to stay at Nature’s Eye, be sure to bring an anti-mosquito lotion. Due to it being somewhat in the middle of the forest, you’ll definitely need to apply some every few hours.

Nature’s Eye is located on a hilly landscape, and for this room guide, let’s start at the highest part the resort.

CLIFF COTTAGE

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Cliff Cottage
THE CLIFF COTTAGE ROOM

Perched on the highest point of the resort, the Cliff Cottage is the most secluded of the five accommodations. Offering unmatched privacy—for those on a romantic get-away, this is the one to book.

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Cliff Cottage Toilet
A VERY OPEN TOILET AND BATH

It has a rustic design—walls finished in banig mats, high-pitched ceiling with exposed wooden rafters, and live edge furniture. Outside, a wrap-around balcony overlooks the sea. Access a door beside it and you enter an open toilet and bath—which also overlooks the sea—yes, it doesn’t have walls. Being located really high up the cliff, you can rest assured that no one is gonna see you do your thing while in there.

Maximum Capacity: 5 persons

OCEAN UPPER DECK & OCEAN LOWER DECK

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Ocean Upper Deck
OCEAN UPPER DECK’S SNAZZY INTERIORS

Situated some steps below the Cliff Cottage, the Ocean Deck Rooms are for guests who like the comforts of modern hotel rooms. Both are set in a single two-storey structure with separate entrances. They have almost the same features.

The interiors have a sleek modern hotel finish with a dash of au naturel—coconut trunk walls, banig headboards, bamboo ceiling, and live edge furniture. Both has an en suite and fully enclosed toilet and baths—roomy, with large windows with a view of the sea.

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Ocean Upper Deck Balcony
THE UPPER DECK’S EXPANSIVE BALCONY

The difference between the two are their sizes. The Lower Deck has a larger room—the largest in the resort, in fact—but with a smaller balcony. The Upper Deck, on the other hand, has a smaller room but compensates with a larger wrap-around balcony with the view of the sea. Both are large enough to comfortably fit more than two persons, so it’s just a matter of preference if you want to have the first or second floor.

Lower Deck Maximum Capacity: 6 persons
Upper Deck Maximum Capacity: 4 persons

SHELL COTTAGE

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Shell Cottage
INSIDE THE SHELL COTTAGE

The most easily accessible cottage in Nature’s Eye, the Shell Cottage is located on the main resort pathway.

It has a very rustic interior—bamboo slat floor, banig and bamboo walls, and a high ceiling with exposed bamboo rafters. Its en suite toilet and bath echo the same motif, completing it with a gravel floor shower area.

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Shell Cottage Balcony
SPACIOUS BALCONY

The cottage has a balcony facing the sea, but due to its location, the view isn’t as great compared to the other four rooms.

Shell Cottage Maximum Capacity: 4 persons

SUNSET COTTAGE

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Sunset Cottage
SUNSET COTTAGE’S VERY RUSTIC INTERIOR

The cottage closest to the sea, the Sunset Cottage is the smallest of the five.

It has a similar rustic au naturel finish as the Shell Cottage, but unlike it, it has an open toilet and bath that opens to the sea. It also has a better balcony view, since it juts out directly to the sea. And naturally, this is the closest cottage to Nature’s Eye’s pocket beach.

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Sunset Cottage Balcony
SUNSET COTTAGE’S BALCONY IS THE NEAREST ONE TO THE SEA

If you like to be as close to the sea as possible, this is the cottage for you—just note that some guests have reported of waking up at night due to the very strong sounds of the waves. If you don’t mind that, then get this one.

Sunset Cottage Maximum Capacity: 3 persons

OUR ROOM: OCEAN LOWER DECK

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Ocean Lower Deck
OUR ROOM FOR THREE DAYS, THE OCEAN LOWER DECK

We initially thought of getting the Ocean Upper Deck room, but due to a miscommunication on our part, we got the Ocean Lower Deck instead. In hindsight, we thought we got the better deal.

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Ocean Lower Deck
KID A ENJOYING THE KING BED

Again, this is the largest room in Nature’s Eye Beach Resort, and it was huge even for the three of us—two adults and a toddler. Right on center is the king-size bed with pull-outs, it can bed up to five persons comfortably. Off one side is a rattan sitting area with a really lovely rug. The room has generous windows overlooking the sea and is gorgeous during the sunset.

SUNSET VIEW FROM INSIDE THE ROOM

The room is air-conditioned, has a closet, a mini-fridge, and a coffee and tea-making facility. The thing missing here is the television—which is how Nature’s Eye Resort intended it to be; watch nature instead out of those huge windows and expansive balconies, they’re probably saying.

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Ocean Lower Deck Toilet & Bath
SPACIOUS TOILET AND BATH

But if you really can’t live without TV, the resort has a strong wi-fi connection—have your screentime on your phone or tablet (like we did, we can’t live without watching the morning and evening news—thunders alert, lol).

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Ocean Lower Deck Balcony
THE BALCONY AREA

The best part of the room was the balcony—which, I have been saying for probably the umpteenth time here, overlooks the sea. Because, yes, every corner of Nature’s Eye overlooks the sea!

SUNSET FROM OUR BALCONY

The balcony is where we spent most of our time when not sleeping. It’s where we have our morning coffee. It’s where we have our afternoon snack. It’s where we watch the sunset. And before going to bed, it’s where we drink a couple of bottles of beer—yes, it’s available at the resort, no need to bring your own, lol.

BIRD'S EYE RESTAURANT

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras Bird's Eye Restaurant
THE RUSTIC BIRD’S EYE RESTAURANT

Nature’s Eye Beach Resort has an in-house restaurant that opens on all side to the sea several meters below. Situated near its gate, the hut-like bamboo structure houses the front desk and restaurant.

THE VIEW FROM THE RESTAURANT

For their complimentary breakfast, guests have the option of having traditional Filipino silog fares of hotdog, longganisa, dried fish, tocino, daing na bangus, corned beef, or luncheon meat. This comes with a choice of bread or rice (rice tayo, shempre!), tea or brewed coffee (or hot choco when available), and two fried eggs. If you don’t feel like having rice or bread, they also have pancakes.

OUR TYPICAL BREAKFAST FARE

I love how hearty their breakfasts were, delicious, really filling, and with a bonus serving of fruits too! Hello, Guimaras mangoes!

PORK SINIGANG, VERY GENEROUS SERVING

Being located on a remote part of the island, they also serve lunch and dinner for guests. Their menu consists of chicken, pork, vegetable, seafood, pasta, and sandwiches. Most are Filipino favorites interspersed with a few Western dishes.

BUTTERED GARLIC SHRIMP FOR DINNER

During our stay, we were able to try their pork sinigang, grilled chicken, sotanghon guisadong, and buttered garlic shrimp. Serving size is good enough for two, or even three people, if they’re not voracious eaters, lol.

WHAT TO DO IN NATURE’S EYE BEACH RESORT

BEACH AROUND

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras View
NATURE’S EYE BEACH RESORT’S BEACH AREA

Nature’s Eye Beach Resort has its own pocket beach within its grounds. It has cream-colored sand and is beset by a towering rock wall on one side. Unfortunately, it wasn’t swimmable during our stay due to the season, so we were actually unable to set foot on it.

Tando Beach Guimaras
THE NEARBY TANDO BEACH

But fear not, there is another beach near the area. Tando Beach is five minutes by foot from the gates of the resort—you’d actually pass it en route to Nature’s Eye. It’s a local beach—mostly deserted during the weekdays and busy during the weekends—with locals having lunch picnics in the area. Quite endearing to witness, actually.

We spent most of our time here, simply relaxing on its soft white sands. I loved how the beach gently slopes into the water, with barely any waves, and a smooth, sandy bottom—no aqua shoes needed. It’s the perfect beach for those with kids.

SNORKEL

Nature’s Eye also has a snorkeling area on its south side, so don’t forget to bring your snorkeling masks and aqua shoes. The resort has some for rent (₱150.00), in case you forgot to bring yours. Again, we were unable to try it due to strong waves. Hopefully, next time.

RELAX

RELAXING VIEW FROM NATURE’S EYE BEACH RESORT

With its rustic cottages, lush greenery, and sweeping sea views, Nature’s Eye is the perfect place to simply do nothing. Each cottage comes with its own balcony—an ideal spot to relax and unwind. If you wish, you can spend your entire stay at the resort and leave the outside world behind for a while.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Nature's Eye Beach Resort Guimaras
WE DEFINITELY LOVED OUR STAY AT NATURE’S EYE

I loved everything about the resort—even the hike getting there felt like part of the adventure, a transition of sorts from the modern world and into a more natural surroundings. What made it even better was being immersed in the outdoors without giving up the comforts of a modern resort.

We spent three days at Nature’s Eye Resort in Guimaras, and honestly, it wasn’t enough. I wish we had a few more days to fully soak in its vibe and energy.
