The Heritage Hotel Manila

It’s hard to miss The Heritage Hotel Manila’s iconic facade. When I used to frequent Las Pinas, I usually pass it en route to the city right before the Baclaran Church. When going to the airport, I can’t help but notice its windowed rooms facing Manila Bay, making me wonder what its interiors looks like. And last month, after an invite to try their monthly buffet specials, I finally did.

The Heritage Hotel Manila Lobby
PLUSH LOBBY

Located at the corner of EDSA and Roxas Boulevard, The Heritage Hotel Manila stands proud along Pasay’s skyline. The four-star hotel opened its doors to guests in 1994 and has 450 well-appointed rooms with balconies angled towards the Manila Bay. Outside, its architecture is modernist, but once you enter its airy lobby, it transforms into a much more classical look.

HELLO, FIESTA FILIPINO BUFFET!

At the time, their buffet lunch, which changes theme every month, was for the Fiesta Filipino Buffet. It’s a month-long celebration of Filipino food favorites at their Riviera Café. Diners are treated with a spread of Pinoy dishes for lunch and dinner, with the selection alternating in variety each day.

PLATEFULS OF SEAFOOD

UNLIMITED CHICHARON BULAKLAK

A profusion of scrumptious seafood, fresh veggies and gut-busting meat dishes welcomed us as we entered the café. I immediately attacked the seafood table, filling my plate with curacha, clams, crabs and shrimps, before proceeding to the where the real action was—the porky area. My second plate was brimming with piles of crunchy chicharon bulaklak, lechon de leche and succulent pork liempo.

GINATAANG SEAFOOD KALABASA

On a food binge, I followed everything up with pancit canton, lumpiang shanghai and seafood ginataang kalabasa (my favorite!). And for good measure, I threw in a helping of pancit Malabon, which guests can request ala carte from their friendly staff.

LET’S DO THIS!

For those with a sweet tooth, two areas are dedicated to nothing but sweets. First, the halo-halo stand, where you mix your own concoction, and then the kakanin area, where a spread of kutsinta, puto and other native delicacies are at your own disposal. They also have sorbetes, by the way!

THE CLUB ROOM FLOOR

With our belts cinched on the last notch, we checked out the pool area which was just right beside the restaurant before heading to our room at the ninth floor. We would’ve loved to swim but for fear of belching out all that food we have consumed, lol. So, it was relax time first.

OUR ROOM FOR THE NIGHT

We were billeted at The Heritage Hotel’s Club Room [CHECK DISCOUNTED RATES & AVAILABILITY]. Situated at the topmost level of the hotel, it was more than spacious for two persons, complete with a mini-living room area. Our friends actually converged in our room, catching up stories from our recent trips and talking about our upcoming two-month Same Same Summer Trip. We also took the chance of manually picking the winners from our Treasures of Bolinao blog contest while at it.

Reflecting the modern classic design of the lobby, our room also has a very warm tone offset by whites and dashes of reds. The wooden furnishings are all classic looking and are accentuated by abstract paintings from renowned Filipino painter, Nestor Olarte Vinluan.

The Heritage Hotel Manila Club Room
SPACIOUS TOILET & BATH

It has a spacious en suite toilet and bath with a tub, a veranda overlooking Pasay City (I bet these look out over the waters of the Manila Bay before the area got reclaimed), and all the things we expected from a modern hotel including fast and free Wi-Fi connection.

The Heritage Hotel Manila Millennium Club
THE EXCLUSIVE MILLENNIUM CLUB

Booking a Club Room also allows guests to access the Millennium Club, an executive lounge located on the same floor. Here, we enjoyed a light snack and glasses of cold drinks before heading outside and checking out the vibrant nightlife in the area. And, indeed, we found our spot just a few steps away from the hotel at Music 21. Can you spell drunken videoke nights?! Fun!!
