House Rental at Subic Homes in Zambales

There was a time when Subic was synonymous with weekend getaways before other town resorts started sprouting up near the Metro. I still fondly remember trips with my family and old flames along its shaded tree-lined roads, spending time on its white sand beaches and buying affordable PX goods at its many shops.

A chance to revisit Subic came a few weeks ago courtesy of Subic Homes. A group of travel bloggers were invited to check out the sights in the area and stay at their Vacation Villas at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

Subic Homes was established after the American Forces who used to occupy the Subic Naval Base left the country. The houses they used were abandoned and were left to deteriorate into disrepair. The company came in to rescue these houses and make them livable again for people visiting Subic.

The Hallway with the Harry Potter Room at Subic Homes in ZambalesThe village usually accommodates investors, retirees and tourists looking for larger than normal lodgings while in Subic. When I say larger than normal, I really mean it, you don’t just get a room in a hotel or inn, you get a whole air-conditioned house.

We arrived at Subic Homes just an hour after lunch and immediately checked out our home for two days. A hallway (with a Harry Potteresque room) led to a spacious living area fully furnished with comfy sofas, coffee table, rugs and a huge flatscreen telly.

Queen-Sized Bed at Subic Homes in ZambalesThe rooms on the second floor were equally spacious. Our home has three rooms; a master’s bedroom that has its own toilet and bath, one room with a queen-sized bed and a room with two single beds. The whole place can comfortably accommodate six persons.

Clean Toilet and Bath at Subic Homes in ZambalesOne of the problems usually associated with such lodgings is the comfort room. With so many people renting the place, a queue almost always ends up forming at the door of the CR. This however isn’t the case with our unit; it has a total of three toilet and baths. The fittings may not be the glitziest out there, but they are clean and functioning as expected, which is really what matters most.

Full Kitchen at Subic Homes in ZambalesI like the fact that we can cook our own meals here, a kitchen complete with utensils and cooking apparatuses were available at our disposal. They have microwaves, ovens, refs and rice cookers. The only thing missing is the food we’ll be cooking (which we got later from the convenience store near the area).

Sunny Dining Area at Subic Homes in ZambalesMy favorite part of Subic Homes is the dining area. It overlooks an outdoor lanai which can easily be accessed through a sliding glass door. It’s here where we spent time a lot of time brainstorming over the more important things in life over beers, chips and liquors.

Our Room at Subic Homes in ZambalesThe house is so huge that it can get a bit creepy if you’re staying alone (I’m thinking this may be due to the lack of decorations in the place). But it’s really made for big groups and families, so my supernatural worries about new places was kept at bay. We all had a good night’s sleep after our alcohol binge; our bed was so comfy, too comfy in fact that we almost woke up too late for breakfast.

Breakfast at Subic Homes in ZambalesRates for Subic Homes’ unit go as low as Php5,950.00. It looks expensive at first glance but that’s just a thousand bucks per person if you’re six in the group. Not a bad deal, especially since you’ll have one whole house to yourselves. Savings can be further tallied if you bring in your own food for cooking.

Subic Homes is definitely a good option for a Subic getaway. Perfect for big groups holding a teambuilding or a company outing, excellent for families looking for a second home away from home.

  3. Wow! Akala ko expensive ang ganyan kaya napupunta kami sa hotels. Ayun pala mas malaki nagagastos namin sa pagkuha namin ng maraming rooms for the family. Thanks for sharing!

  5. What do you mean by Harry Potteresque? =)

I couldn't help but notice the way the towels are folded. Sorry but they look like slugs. What were they aiming for anyway? Hehehe! =)

It is a good place though. Considering the place is huge. Plus you can cook, too.
