The Lakbay Norte crew’s stomachs were already in protest as we drove down the winding road towards the scenic Blue Lagoon Beach in Pagudpud en route to Kapuluan Vista Resort for a very late lunch.
The rustic tiki-like nipa entrance of the resort greeted us as we quickly alighted from our bus. The resort’s architecture is rustic; a combination of traditional Filipino building style, a tinge of Mediterranean with modern minimalist touches.
We moved towards the airy lobby and further on, I can see an elevated swimming pool in the courtyard. The water’s tempting, but right then, I was more interested in their food.

Before heading back to Manila, we decided to have a quick trip down Vigan City.
Leaving Pagudpud by twelve noon, we hopped on a bus bound for Laoag City for a connecting bus that would drop us at the World Heritage City of Vigan. We estimated that we’d be there by four in the afternoon and opted to have a late lunch there. Unfortunately, the bus we rode in had more stops on the road than I could count and we arrived at Vigan an hour later than expected. With rumbling stomachs, we went directly to Grandpa’s Inn for some of Vigan’s famed bagnet (deep fried pork).
For dinner, we headed to Evangeline Beach Resort’s Emohruo Restobar. Researching for a good place to eat out in Pagudpud, this restaurant’s chicken curry keeps on popping up on Google, so we decided to try it out. The resto’s strange name as explained by one of the waiters is simply Our Home spelled backwards, quite creative if I must say.
They serve mostly Asian dishes with a twist. Some of their must-try offerings are the Emohruo’s Wake Up Shake Up (egg omelet with cheese, ham, mushroom, carrot with toasted bread & coffee), Seafood Barbecue (medley of seafood marinated with spicy S.S.S. & grilled, with buttered vegetable sidings), Fishy Rolls (fillet of fish filled with crabmeat, parmesan cheese, lettuce & seaweed with lemon butter-tarragon sauce), and Ruthy Rolls (eggplant, carrots, sayote, lettuce w/ cheese & seaweed roll-ups served w/ mushroom herb sauce).
Having only Burger Machine hamburgers as dinner for the back breaking twelve-hour trip to Ilocos Norte, to say that we were hungry upon arriving at Pagudpud is an understatement. So the first order of the day after dropping off our gear and bags at the Villa Del Mar Resort was of course, breakfast!
Restaurants fronting the Saud beach open at around eight in the morning, pretty late as we expect every bistro to be open by six. The first one to open was Terra Rika’s CasaBlanca Seaside Grille, so that’s where we headed.
