Days Hotel Iloilo Suite

We slept with the drapes drawn wide open, offering a full view of the city’s main avenue—lamplight and car headlights reflecting off its rain-slicked streets. The Capitol building, seen from our window, quietly resting beneath a drizzling Iloilo sky. By the time I awoke, fully rested and ahead of my wife and kid, the scene had changed. Soft morning light filtered gently through Days Hotel’s translucent curtains; the rain had passed, and the city was beginning to wake. I dressed quickly, excited for a morning walk along the nearby River Esplanade—ready to be embraced once more by the City of Love.

DAYS HOTEL ILOILO

I stayed at Days Hotel Iloilo several years back during an IloiloAntique media tour that extended all the way to Guimaras and Boracay—days spent with a budding romance, a crazy whirlwind that now feels like a lifetime ago. Today, I return with the same person—now my wife—and our young son in tow. No longer traveling with a heavy backpack, we now carry two suitcases. Say hello to our new chapter of travelling.

Everything you need for a worry-free vacation is right there.

Most jeepneys pass by Days Hotel Iloilo; just ask before boarding to make sure. And if you’re not the jeepney-riding type, Iloilo City has fleets of taxis and even ride-hailing services like inDrive, MiCab, and Grab Car.

Iloilo River Esplanade

The hotel sits right in front of the uniquely Iloilo rotunda beside the Provincial Capitol. Walk a few steps to the right, and there’s the Iloilo River, where the city’s never-ending River Esplanade is located. A couple more steps up are the Museo Iloilo and the National Museum of Visayas.

THE ICONIC JARO CATHEDRAL

A short jeepney ride north takes you to La Paz Market, where the famous Madge Café and Netong’s Batchoy are located. Ride a bit further and you get to the Jaro Cathedral. Ride west; there’s the Molo Church. Ride south, and you get to visit one of the oldest streets in the Philippines, Calle Real. DAYS HOTEL ILOILO ROOM TYPES

Days Hotel Iloilo Lounge
DAYS HOTEL ILOILO LOUNGE AREA

Days Hotel Iloilo has a total of 69 rooms divided into four room types spread across the top two floors of the Atrium Mall. All rooms have air-conditioning, cable television, working desks, electronic safe, mini bar, hi-speed wi-fi, and an en suite toilet and bath with hot water and hair dryer. Cribs for infants are also available upon request.

Days Hotel Iloilo Twin Bedroom
THE TWIN BEDROOM FROM MY PREVIOUS STAY

Their most affordable room is their Twin Bedroom, which has two double beds. I have previously stayed on this room and I can personally say that the room has a very modern vibe and is quite spacious. The Business Room is similar to the Twin Bedroom, but bigger. Both can comfortably room up to four persons.

SCULPTURES ALONG DAYS HOTEL ILOILO’S HALLWAYS

The Days Hotel Suite has a kitchenette fitted with a sink, microwave, a full fridge, and an island counter. The room has an open plan, meaning, it doesn’t have any wall divisions. On the other side of the room, there’s a dining table, a sofa bed, a console for the TV, a work desk, and one king-size bed.

The Presidential Suite, is similar to the previous, but larger. This is where we stayed.

WHERE WE STAYED

Days Hotel Iloilo Presidential Suite
DAYS HOTEL ILOILO’S PRESIDENTIAL SUITE

We stayed for a couple of nights in the Presidential Suite at Days Hotel Iloilo. At 60 square meters, it’s just massive. Being the largest room in the hotel, it can bed up to four guests. But it’s so spacious you could easily fit ten people without feeling cramped. I even joked that I could probably skip my morning walk and finish my daily 10k steps by just padding around the room.

Unlike traditional suites with separate rooms, Days Hotel’s suites feature an open-plan layout divided into four distinct areas.

Upon entering, the kitchen sits to the right, and the toilet and bath to the left. At the center is the living area, which includes a huge closet, a sofa that converts into a bed, and a magazine table. Across from that is the dining area with a four-seater table. Furthest in, by the windows, is the sleeping area. It has a king-sized bed flanked by two side tables. Directly in front of the bed is a TV console, and next to it is a workstation. Right by the floor-to-ceiling windows is a smaller sitting area—perfect for looking out over the city with a cup of coffee.

THE KITCHENNETTE

The kitchen includes a sink, microwave, and a full-sized fridge, along with plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. The only thing missing is a stove—you can prep food, but cooking isn’t an option.

Days Hotel Iloilo Presidential Suite Toilet & Bath
SPACIOUS TOILET AND BATH

The toilet and bath are also very spacious, with hot water, a rain showerhead, a bidet, and a hairdryer. Linens and toiletries provided for. It's so huge, I found myself wishing they’d added a hamper and a washing machine for dirty clothes.

FLOOR-TO-CEILING WINDOW FACING THE CITY

The design of the room is a bit sparse. I think it can do with a bit more textures and decors, like perhaps a rug to separate the areas visually, or even paintings to make the walls more interesting.

OUR FAVORITE PLACE TO HANG OUT

What we loved most about the Presidential Room was the wide window overlooking one of Iloilo City’s main avenues. We kept the drapes open even at night, falling asleep to the city lights and waking up with the rising sun. We also enjoyed chilling at the desk by the window in the mornings, sipping coffee while the city woke up—before heading downstairs to The Promenade for a full breakfast.

HOTEL AMENITIES

Days Hotel Iloilo Gym
THE WELLNESS CLUB GYM

Days Hotel Iloilo features a Wellness Club with a fully equipped gym open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and a spa operating from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. It also offers four dedicated meeting rooms that can host up to 280 guests.

Days Hotel Iloilo Wellness Club Spa
WE ENJOYED OUR MASSAGE AT THE SPA

While we didn’t make use of the gym or the meeting facilities, we did indulge in their spa—and it did not disappoint. We opted for their 150-minute Signature Massage—yes, you read that right, a full two and a half hours of soothing kneading and expert stretching. It was easily one of the best massages I’ve had in a while.

THE FOOD AT THE PROMENADE

Days Hotel Iloilo Breakfast Buffet The Promenade
BREAKFAST BUFFET AT DAYS HOTEL ILOILO

Early mornings often find us at The Promenade, Days Hotel Iloilo’s in-house restaurant. Located on the fourth floor, it offers a bird’s-eye view of the city as we enjoy their daily breakfast buffet.

Days Hotel Iloilo Breakfast Buffet The Promenade
DISHES AT THE MAIN TABLE

The buffet centers around a main table with a rotating selection of chicken, pork, fish, noodle, and vegetable dishes, paired with a soup of the day. Off to the sides are dimsums, and, curiously, fried eggplants—which they have daily. I love how they weave in local Ilonggo dishes like adobo Iloilo and pancit molo alongside Asian staples such as Malaysia’s char kway teow, with the usual Filipino breakfast favorites.

Days Hotel Iloilo Breakfast Buffet The Promenade
THE PROMENADE EGG STATION

The egg station is where you’ll find the classic fried morning fare—bacons, eggs, longganisas, hotdogs, and crisply fried fish like danggit and dilis. They also serve pasta here, which they assemble as you order. We were able to try their carbonara and marinara, which, surprisingly, are really good.

Days Hotel Iloilo Breakfast Buffet The Promenade Desserts
DELECTABLE LOCAL CAKES AT THE DESSERT STATION

There are also separate stations for bread, fruit, and desserts. That last one is packed with local kakanins—colorful, sweet, and irresistible. As for their pastries, BG couldn’t get enough of their croissant.

GOOD BREAKFAST EVERYDAY

We never had a bad meal at The Promenade. In fact, breakfast became something we looked forward to daily—it was just that good. The restaurant truly lived up to Iloilo’s designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Days Hotel Iloilo
CHECKING OUT AT DAYS HOTEL ILOILO

We had a lovely stay at Days Hotel Iloilo. The location couldn’t be more central, the rooms are exceptionally spacious, the staff are polite—and for some reason, really, really easy on the eyes. Their massage treatment was absolutely the bomb, and the food truly lives up to the city’s rich culinary tradition. All the hallmarks of a great stay were there. My kid’s only gripe, really, was the missing swimming pool, lol. But then again, who needs a hotel pool when the beaches of Guimaras are just half an hour away?
