Century Langkasuka Langkawi

A layer of concrete, pool water, white sand, azure sea and blue skies greeted us as we went across Century Langkasuka Resort’s inner courtyard. Coming from the Century Langkawi Beach Resort, their sister hotel at Langkawi, we really didn’t intend to swim and didn’t bring any clothes to change to. What we really came here for was their spa. But that quickly changed when we saw their infinity pool.

CENTURY LANGKASUKA’S LOVELY INFINITY POOL

The infinity pool, framed by Tengah beach, made me strip off down to my boxers. We were waiting our turn for a massage, and what better way to wait than by swimming, I thought to myself.  So, I dove down, warm water enveloping me, and held my breath as I swam along the bottom. Letting out a big heave, I burst above the water and enjoyed the view of the beach from the confines of the pool.

After an hour or so of lazing around the water, their staff was kind enough to provide me with a towel, even though we weren’t really checked in at the Century Langkasuka Resort in Langkawi. It was soon our turn at their spa and an ice cold ginger tea was the perfect intro to our treatment.

READY FOR THEIR SIGNATURE HEALING MASSAGE

We chose Century Langkasuka’s Signature Healing Massage (MYR186.00) which utilized warm oil with firm but soothing strokes. After days of touring around Langkawi, it was the perfect massage to relax my muscles. The whole thing lasted for an hour and I fell asleep halfway through. It was that good.

LOVING THE MINIMALIST DESIGN OF THEIR RESTAURANT

Right after, we proceeded to their modernly decorated in-house restaurant for lunch. Checking their menu, we asked what their best-sellers were, Malaysian best-sellers, that is, since they also offer western dishes.

CHICKEN WING ~ MYR30.00  |  GRILLED AUSTRALIAN STRIPLOIN ~ MYR78.00

I personally requested for Foochow noodles, while my friends ordered Sarawak black pepper beef pizza and grilled Australian striploin. For sharing we also asked for a bowl of Sarawak laksa, which the chef highly recommended, and a plate of chicken wings. We were, indeed, hungry!

Serving time was average, after taking some photos of the restaurant interiors and the pool outside, our lunch was ready on our table. We were taken aback at the huge servings of each dish, it filled our table to brimming!

FOOCHOW NOODLES ~ MYR30.00

My Foochow noodles, made from wok fried egg noodles swimming on thick brown sauce and set with prawns and chicken, was love at first taste. It was absolutely delicious and very flavorful. Some might find it a tad too salty, but it was just right for my taste.

Century Langkasuka Langkawi Pizza
SARAWAK BLACK PEPPER BEEF PIZZA ~ MYR36.00

The pizza on the other hand was also superb. The bread was very soft and the toppings, thick with beef. The black pepper, which they get all the way from Sarawak, did really make a difference. It actually went well with the crisply fried chicken wings—I just wish they have gravy to go along with it.

Century Langkasuka Langkawi Sarawak Laksa
SARAWAK LAKSA ~ MYR30.00

The real winner at Century Langkasuka’s restaurant, however, was their Sarawak laksa. The soup complementing the vermicelli noodles was creamy, flavorful and peppery, all at the same time. Add the prawns, and yeah, it can’t be any better.

Century Langkasuka Langkawi Sarawak Iced Coffee
ICED COFFE ~ MYR16.00

The only problem with the whole shebang on our table was how to finish everything off. We were just three in the group and we can’t possibly eat all these in one go, however good they might be. The solution? Take away. Now, we won’t have to worry about dinner too, lol!
