Barbara's Coffee Shop at Plaza San Luis in Intramuros

After discovering Plaza San Luis in Intramuros we went back a week later to try out their coffee shop. The café is actually a part of Barbara’s and is located at a little niche at the central part of the plaza. They serve a mix of dishes, desserts and coffee.

We tried Inside the Quaint Cafe at Plaza San Luis in Intramurosout their blended coffee, which tasted just like an instant coffee on blended ice; but I guess that justifies its relatively cheap price of Php60.00.

Since we went there in the morning, we ordered their tapsilog (fried beef jerky, egg and rice) (Php135.00) and tocilog (fried sweet pork, egg and rice) (Php135.00) for breakfast, which also tasted quite regular. Serving size’s on the small side and I still felt a bit hungry after the meal. So, I ordered an additional clubhouse sandwich (Php135.00), which was excellent and very filling.

For dessert we had their Decadent Chocolate Cake (Php125.00), which really lived up to its name. Easily the best of what we ordered.

Service was quite prompt and their staff friendly. Serving time though was a bit lengthy.

The food at Barbara’s Café is pretty average and prices are on the expensive side, but what really sets this coffee shop apart is its location and ambience. Amidst massive white adobe walls, wrought iron grills overgrown with bougainvilleas, antique capiz windows and quaint stone paths; it feels like having a cup of coffee at Manila during its early era.

  2. Kapag nasa Intramuros kami, siguradong dito kami kumakain. I love their food! Buti naman at dinagdagan nila ng mga mesa sa courtyard. I recommended their restaurant upstairs to my balikbayan sis-in-law for their family reunion at sobra din siyang happy. P500/head buffet tapos may cultural show pa!
