Staying in the sleepy town of Cabangan means you’d have to eat there too. However, most food places in the province aren’t really located there—it’s far from being the food capital of Zambales—still, there are a handful of unique places you can dine in when in Cabangan. And during the past years, as tourism started to bloom in town, the number of places to eat in Cabangan started to grow too.

Here are a few of the most interesting food places in Cabangan. These range from roadside stands and food shacks to swanky cafes and full-blown restaurants. These made the list because they’re somewhat unique, have good food, are institutions in Cabangan, or simply because I’ve personally tried them and found them to be worthy.

The water was cold on first dip. Too cold, in fact, that I doubled back a bit if I really wanted to take a morning swim at Nasugbu’s Long Beach. But my son, A, was already on his merry way along the waters—hands splashing on his sides, totally unmindful of the cold. Oh heck.

It was a quick weekends of sort at Nasugbu—a seemingly never-ending town in Batangas. It was my niece’s birthday, and they’re celebrating it on their hometown. We were only too quick to say yes to their invitation to join—wanting to let in a bit more of the outdoors in our too homebound lives nowadays.

For travelers like us, the Covid19 pandemic has forced us off the road and into our house for about two years now. Unlike before, when asked where we're going next, instead of rattling off cities and countries with flights already booked a year or so beforehand, we'd most likely say, the grocery, or err.. the kitchen!

The pandemic has forced us to be better cooks than we were before—well, at least in our household. Before covid19, the only thing I know how to cook are fried, instant stuff, and boiled eggs. I’m such a master at boiling eggs I even play The Boiled Eggs, an addictive online cooking game—but I digress, lol.

Travel is starting to pick up again as the recent COVID-19 surge starts to recede in the Philippines. While most of us are just happy that we can travel again—just the mere fact that we can actually step foot on an airport again makes us giddy with excitement!

READY TO FLY TO MALDIVES

But after processing your travel documents and a few more minutes in—which eventually turns into hours—boredom sets in. Waiting in airports is one of the few things I really hate about traveling, especially since we always make it a point to be there three hours before our actual flight time—as is usually suggested by airlines.

With long waiting times and limited area to explore, here’s what we usually do to while away the hours at the airport.

Besides taking care of my kid and rekindling my love for toys, being connected online is one of the things that kept me sane during this pandemic. Well, it’s not like I really have loads of free time—spell A.K.I.R.A., my son, and house chores—but the Internet does help in keeping us entertained, traveling being out of the equation as of the moment.

It used to be that I travel almost every week. It used to be that I board a plane at least once every month. It used to be that my wife and I go backpacking for two months around the globe every summer. Now, we just stay at home. We really didn’t have a say on it. The pandemic happened. And oh, yes, a baby also arrived too!

So what does a housebound travel blogger do in times like these? Well, actually, a lot. I rediscovered a lot of my previous hobbies prior to living the jetsetting life. And then there’s being a daddy too!

Now that the summer season is in full swing, that also means the summer travel season has begun. So, why not look stylish, put-together, and trendy while on holidays with a few simple pieces that can be included in your luggage. The great thing about high-end items is that they tend to be perfect for mixing and matching, which means you don’t have to pack as many items.

To help you with your packing, here’s a look at the top high-end summer holiday wardrobe essentials for men that will be perfect for any type of travel you have planned.

It’s officially summer in the Philippines! And while going to the beach to cool off is definitely on everyone’s list of things to do during the break, you really can’t stay the whole summer lounging on the sand and swimming on the sea, can you? In between your beach get-aways, you may want to try a few things you can do within the confines of the city too—and there’s actually a lot you can do within Metro Manila without the need to spend hours on end driving out of town.

To make things much easier, you can even book your tours within Metro Manila via Traveloka. As one of the top travel apps in the country for booking flights and hotels, Traveloka has now upped its game by letting its users book tours within the app. Just fire up the app, click on the “Attractions & Activities” tab, then either search for places or activities. Besides tours in the Philippines, they also have international activities covered. Convenient and hassle-free, eh? Here’s a few things you can do in Manila this summer via Traveloka.

ShopBack is one of my go-to sites whenever I shop online, and that’s getting more and more frequent these days. It’s not a shopping site per se, but a site that lets you get discounts on almost anything that’s being sold on major shopping sites across the web like Lazada and Shopee, and even travel sites like Agoda and Klook. You buy a product, and you get a percentage back from your purchase, which is then stored on your ShopBack wallet. This is good as cash, something you can use to buy more products, or withdraw to your bank account.

I first used this when I purchased a Sony lens for my mirrorless camera a year or so ago. I registered on ShopBack, clicked on the Lazada site from the ShopBack site, and then searched for the camera lens I wanted. It is a cumbersome process but it saved me at least a thousand bucks on my purchase.
