Balcony at Amun Ini Beach Resort in Anda, Bohol

The walls of the rooms curved through the balcony covered overhead by a thick thatched roof reminiscent of the houses in Batanes. We passed through a window made of rattan weaving and I instantly wondered why no one has thought of utilizing such a design before. The Amun Ini Beach Resort & Spa in Anda, Bohol was serving us one surprise after another as we walked through its grounds.

In Ilonggo, Amun Ini means This is Ours. That’s more than one word than the original, but trust me, that’s what it means. And I guess such is the philosophy behind this three-hectare resort hidden along the more private and quieter parts of Anda’s coastline.

The resort owner greeted us upon entering his abode, he showed off the airy dining hall of Amun Ini which sits right beside their inviting infinity pool. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time even for a small snack. Talking vibrantly, he told us that the resort has a total of only sixteen rooms, each one the same as the other. Take it or leave it, he jokingly said.

Lush Pathways at Amun Ini Beach Resort in Anda, Bohol

Through a low canopy of leaves, we were directed to one of the resort’s rooms. I love how shaded the walkways are at Amun Ini Beach Resort, although this also breeds a problem of its own, mosquitoes. I can’t remember how many times I was bit that I totally recommend on bringing a mosquito-repellant lotion for guests planning to stay here.

Everyone suppressed a gasp as we entered one of Amun Ini’s rooms. My goodness, it was so nice.

I think no one was expecting a resort of this caliber this side of Bohol. The king-sized bed looked welcoming and the banig rugs add a native touch. It was so spacious there was even space for a full sofa.

It has the usual LCD cable television and free Wi-Fi Internet access, but as the owner told us, I recommend you guys turn that off and just enjoy the beach outside. Which isn’t a bad piece of advice really. Anda has one of the finest beach sands in the country, as what we saw at Quinale Beach.

All the rooms are air-conditioned and has a mini-ref provided for.

Toilet and Bath at Amun Ini Beach Resort in Anda, Bohol

The toilet and bath doubles as a walk-in closet. To say it’s huge is an understatement. It looked really cozy and luxurious with its wooden panels and big mirrors.

Pebble Balcony at Amun Ini Beach Resort in Anda, Bohol

But the best part of the rooms at Amun Ini Beach Resort & Spa are its balconies. Overlooking the sea, two sets of wooden chairs are set, not on the usual tiled floor, but on a loose pebble floor. I haven’t seen anything quite like it. It’s like stepping on your own little private beach—only, it is part of your room. It actually made me remove my flip-flops before stepping outside.

If you want the real thing though, you have to step out of your room and have a stroll towards the beach. The resort has a 300-meter long private beach that boast of fine white sand and crystalline waters. Swim a bit further and you’ll encounter a reef right within the cove, perfect for diving and snorkeling.
