Cebu’s Harbour City Dimsum

Pangs of hunger rumbled through our stomachs as we came out from Mactan Internation Airport. While waiting for the yellow multicab that transfers passengers from the airport to the highway, we met a friendly Cebuana who recommended a place where we can get a hot meal in Cebu without breaking the bank; she said there’s a nearby dimsum house that serves really excellent Chinese; Harbour City Dimsum.

Ten minutes later, we were checking the food strip along Mactan Marina Mall. We entered Mactan’s Harbour City Dimsum and were greeted by a modern looking restaurant; clean-lined wood panels, curving white ceiling, chic white and red furnishing. Dragons and Chinese junks decorate the wall of the place, reminding us that it is still after all a Chinese restaurant.

Cebu’s Harbour City DimsumAccording to our friend, the resto is also associated with Ding Qua Qua and Dimsum Break which are two of the more popular Chinese delis in Cebu. We checked Harbour City’s menu and ordered their Rice Pots. Serving time was quite fast and we got our food in no time.

Spicy Steamed Fried Rice at Cebu’s Harbour City DimsumSince I love spicy dishes, I asked for their Spicy Steamed Fried Rice (Php58.00). The pot was quite hot and I was having a bit of a hard time tasting its flavor. I have to stop and let it cool down a bit before digging in again. The rice is topped by a thick spicy sauce with bits of shrimps and strips of red chili and looks really delicious.

Yand Chow Fried Rice at Cebu’s Harbour City DimsumA, being a fan of Chow King’s Yang Chao ordered their version of Yang Chow Fried Rice (Php55.00). The bowl is standard fare Yang Chao; bits of ham, fried eggs, spring onions mix in with fried rice.

Mango Shake at Cebu’s Harbour City DimsumFor refreshments, we tried their Mango Shake (Php48.00) which according to their menu is the original mango delight. Well, I guess their menu didn’t lie as it did delight us. It was pretty good for its price.

Although it was just a quick chow at Harbour City, I really can’t say that the dishes we tried are anything to write home about. To be fair to the restaurant, I guess their specialties are really dimsums, which we unfortunately, weren’t able to try at all due to time constraints. Nevertheless, considering the very affordable price of our order, it’s really not a bad deal at all. In fact, I would not even hesitate to come back and discover more of their menu.
